Mumbai Metro Phase-2: Trial of underground metro is going on in Mumbai from the end of 2023. Now this trial is reaching the final stage. Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation is now preparing for the second phase of trials. After that it will get the Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) certificate and preparations will begin to open the metro for the people.

Mumbai: After bringing the process of trial run on the first phase of the underground closer to the final stage, the metro administration has started the process of trial run on the second phase of the metro. In the second phase of the metro, the metro will be run between BKC and Acharya Atre Chowk. The trial run on this phase was started by running the metro between BKC to Dadar.
This is the first underground metro of Mumbai. According to the metro administration, soon the metro will be run up to Acharya Atre Chowk station of Worli campus.

Till now, trial run of Aarey to BKC metro is going on to open the doors of metro for common passengers. After the trial run process of Metro between Aarey and BKC reaches the third party test, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MSRC) has started the work on the next phase. Third party test means that MMRC has completed all the tests of the metro at its level.

Third party testing is mandatory for double checking of metro routes and all equipment. After passing this test, MSRC will invite Metro Rail Safety Board (CSRS) for final verification.
The Metro administration has set a target to complete all the mandatory processes by the end of June or the second week of July. After a long wait, passengers will be able to travel in the metro between Aarey and BKC in the next two months.
Second phase train ready
11 rakes of metro have already reached Mumbai to start metro service on the second phase. Testing work of 11 metro trains and their equipment is going on in the car shed. The work of inspection of these trains will be completed in the next few days.
MMRC plans to start the service with 9 tracks in the first phase of the metro. 9 metro trains are ready to take passengers to their destination. MMRC is working on a plan to start metro service on the entire route by the end of this year or early 2025.
